Juan Manuel Díaz is the 2023-2024 LACS Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Díaz holds a Phd in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Maryland (2023). His research centers around identity, totalitarianism, the philosophy of literature, and the Frankfurt School within the contexts of South America and Europe. Dr. Díaz is working on a book manuscript based on his dissertation entitled Critical Heterodoxy: The Works of Ezequiel Martínez Estrada and Néstor Perlongher. At LACS and the University of Maryland, he teaches interdisciplinary courses in Latin American and Caribbean politics and culture. Dr. Díaz is a researcher for the project 'From the popular to the multitude: political emergency and configuration of the people in the essay and narrative of the Southern Cone,' hosted by the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina. An Argentine native, Dr. Díaz contributes to the Revista Bife as a regular columnist, advisor, and proofreader.
